Creepy Kirk the Ghost

This my last post for the Creative Paper Clay Design Team. I had a blast working and coming up with so many new ways to work with this product and I had the privilege of working with amazing people. This month I made a Scary Ghost to hang with my Amazing Mold Putty Project. I took the Paper clay and rolled it out and didn't care how it went, the more raggedy edges the better! I rolled a piece of the clay in a ball for head and draped the rolled out piece of clay on top. I used a bottle for it to sit on and drape over. I then pinched the clay on bottom cut out eyes, added horns, added a mouth and added a few stitches by rolling small pieces of clay. Once dry, I painted it with watered down brown acrylic paint and added details and painted horns red. It was simple but fun and I love these sitting around inspiring me!

Candy Corn Shelf Sitter

Inspired by Halloween and my love for tiny knick knacks, I decided to make a Candy Corn Shelf Sitter.  He's quite a cue little fellow you can sit on the edge of your book shelf or mantle.

Items Used:

Creative Paperclay

Craft Paint

Floral wire

Round Nose Pliers

Googly Eyes

To start this project you first need to decide how big you want your Shelf Sitter to be.  Using Creative Paperclay make a rounded triangle shape that looks kind of like a piece of candy corn.

 Next cut two pieces of floral wire to the same length and wrap one end using a pair of round nose pliers.

 Stick them through the bottom of your triangle piece, these will hold your your legs.  Set this piece aside to dry.

Next roll out two small snakes and cut them to the same length. Cut them into at least for sections and round them out a bit with your fingers.  Use the same technique above for your wire.  Thread your pieces onto each wire and use your pliers to wrap the second end.  Be careful not to squish your pieces.

 Make two little feet and string them on two smaller pieces of wire.  Make sure to round your ends.

This is what your three pieces will look like when you are finished.  Set them aside to dry overnight.

Using craft paint, paint your shelf sitter to look like a piece of candy corn.  Add googly eyes and a smile.

 Attach all of your pieces with jump rings.  Viola!! Here is your completed shelf sitter.

I have been scrapbooking and card making for about 16 years.  I am a wife to my best friend, mother of 3 (1 daughter and 2 sons) and Oma (Grandma) to 3 (2 granddaughters and 1 grandson).   I am very interested in many different mediums. My crafts exist of scrapbooking, card making, wedding favors, centerpieces, floral arranging, vinyl homedecor and jewelry making. Lyneen's Last Quick Tip

This is my last post as a member of the Creative Paperclay® Design Team. I have had a great time sharing my ideas with you this past year. 

For my final not so quick tip I thought I would share some of the projects I have done over this last year.  When viewing them I noticed they all had one thing in common, all of them are finished with Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer, most have Terry Sproul Mixers. 

What I have found is Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer is a one step finish on Creative Paperclay®.  When I used the lacquer mixed with the mixers I only had to paint my projects one time and had a sealed coating on the Creative Paperclay®. 

This mask was for my Creative Paperclay® Design Team application in April of 2012, it was never posted on the Creative Paperclay® blog. Made by molding Creative Paperclay over an inexpensive mask. The flower is a paper napkin adhered with Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer. The rest of the mask is painted with Sakura Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers: Red Garnet and Citrine mixed (making a beautiful tangerine color.)  See more about the Mask HERE on my blog!

For this altered tin I molded a Frozen Charlotte with Creative Paperclay® from an Articus mold. She was painted with Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers - Citrine. Original post is HERE!

My Creative Paperclay® wall pocket was inspired by vintage Victorian wall pockets. The pocket was painted with Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers - Bronze. It has a very vintage look, see the original post HERE.

The Creative Paperclay® Fascinator is one of the only projects  that I painted with craft paint (black) and came back and sealed it with Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer. Original post HERE!

The Creative Paperclay® crown fit for a princess was painted with Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers - Gold. One of the only projects I gave a second coat of the Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer/Mixers.  I was after a "rich golden color." Original post HERE!

This inexpensive bird house was altered with Creative Paperclay® peices. The Creative Paperclay® pieces were painted with Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers:large leaves -  Pearl Green, tiny flowers - Citrine Pearl, large flowers - Rose Pearl, small leaves - Tanzanite Pearl mixed with Shimmer Citrine and birds Aquamarine Pearl. The Fall Tree was created for the Creative Paperclay® and Amazing Mold Putty Blog Hop, which was never posted on the Creative Paperclay® blog. The leaves are molded out of Creative Paperclay® and painted with Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer and Terry Sproul Mixers - Citrine Pearl, Rose Pearl and Shimmer Garnet. Debbie B's Tip - my last post

Hi all
Yes its my last post on the blog... I have decided not to re-apply to be back on this design team. Its been an awesome year and I have worked with wonderful ladies! But one must move on.... I hope to start up my own nail art business soon so time will be needed there to build it up.

Elphaba - Mixed Media Art Doll

 Hey Everybody, It's Edie,

On my personal blog I am doing a 31 Days of Halloween series. Today is  Day 15.
Today's post was two and a half months in the making, but I think it was well worth all of the time, effort, restarts, errors and triumphs! Elphaba is a 3ft tall mixed media art doll and she was inspired by the play "Wicked." You can view the full video walk through below.

 

She started as a wire armature covered in aluminum foil, then I sculpted her entire body using Creative Paperclay®. Her hair is individual sections of wool roving.

 

Her dress and hat are both handmade using fabric scraps, ribbon and lace. Her base was made using a wire armature, covered in masking tape, covered in Spackle, covered in MORE masking tape. I painted and stamped inside the base, then I added chipboard gears and stitched in the chipboard clock.

There is even a light up inside her base that shines down on everything inside.

The flying monkey is a hand sculpted polymer clay face with a Creative Paperclay® body.

The shoes are plastic cake toppers coated in fine, iridescent glitter.

 

The crystal ball is a clear glass Christmas ball that has been painted with layers of glaze and alcohol ink. The base was once a candle holder that I painted black, then I created the holder with an old earring.

The Grimmorie is a wooden block from a stamp that I covered in tissue paper and painted.

The green glass bottle was also painted with layers of glaze, then I added a glitter flourish and alcohol inks to distress it.

 

I am very proud of how she turned out. I never thought in a million years that *I* would be able to create something like this.
