I usually seal my clay ...Hi Lisa, Glad you asked. I usually seal my clay sculptures with a white guesso. The benefits are that it fills in any tiny imperfections and my paint goes on smoother. I know a lot of artists that do not do this and their pieces are still outstanding. So, I think it is more of a preference. Happy sculpting!
