Photo Magnets - Creative Paperclay Style

I don't spend a lot of time with family - we don't live in the same state they do, and we just simply don't get along really!  So when we do get a chance to spend time with them - the memories we make are priceless, and deserve to be showcased!!!  My mom and sister (who live in a different state than I do) came to see those of us who live here, which is 5 of her grandchildren and me!  I wanted to make something for her this Christmas that would be unexpected - and bring back those memories of that special week spent here with all of us!  I love making magnets too, smaller one's made out of Creative Paperclay, stamps, paper flowers, molded flowers, and paint - this is the first one (not the last) made with photos, I hope you enjoy!  
 
Supplies needed:
Creative Paperclay - flattened
White and yellow paint
Ribbon, rick rack, bakers twine
Bling
Paper flowers
Molded flowers
Magnet strip's
Chipboard saying 
Scissors 
Hot glue gun

**TIP - this is where I have said it really saves time to make up things ahead of time, for use later on!  When you have the inspiration, you can easily create something in relatively little time, compared to larger projects!**

Directions: 
Step one:  Taking your flattened Creative Paperclay - make the bases for the magnets the size you want for the photos you are using.  
Step two:  After pieces have been fully dried - sand and paint them.  I used a white paint for the bases - paint 2-3 coats.  
Step three:  After the paint has completely dried - you can start to create the frames.  Cut down the photos to size, adding if you do not have any ribbon, etc to add.  
Step four:  Add the ribbon, rick rack, or bakers twine you are using to wrap around the frame if you are using them.  After you are done with this - make sure to add the photo if you haven't in the last step.
Step five:  Add the bling - the flowers - the extra's to the rest of the piece finishing it off!

I can't wait to get more magnet strip's to make more magnets for my own use this time!  Sometimes it is harder for me to create something for me, rather than making it to sell or as a gift!  This project, was one from the heart for sure, I hope my mom feels the same way!  Thanks for stopping by,

Winter Snowman Picture Frame by Tamara Dozier

Lynda's Frame - AND Tip

Hello everyone - I am so excited to bring you today's project and absolutely love how it turned out!!!  I seriously can't wait to make a few more, let me tell you!!!!  This can be used either as a wall hanging, or on a small easel on your desk - depending on what YOU want!    

Supplies used for this project:
1 package Creative Paperclay
Flower molds
Xacto knife
Ruler
White 8.5 x 11 sheet of cardstock
Flower paper
Sheet of chipboard 
Ribbon
Scrap paper
Saying
White paint
Twinkling H2O's - African Jade and Rose Gold
Sandit's 

Directions to complete the project:

Flatten out the clay to the thickness you want.  I usually do mine fairly thin - but not paper thin.  

Taking your ruler and Xacto knife, make a square that is larger than the picture you are going to use.

  

Using your photo as a template, cut the inside of the frame first, and then cut the outside of the frame shown below.  

**Tip**  Cut the inside of the frame before you cut the outside piece.  This will assure you have a straight piece cut.  Also, try to use a ruler such as the one shown above, so you know the piece is straight.  

After the piece is complete dried (at least 24 hours, or in the oven for faster dry time) - paint the frame the color YOU want.  I chose white for my frame, but you can choose any color you wish.  

Paint the flowers - 2 are in Rose Gold, 3 are in African Jade.  Let dry.

After the frame and flowers have dried, starting with the chipboard, add the white sheet of cardstock to the chipboard, and then the patterned paper.  Add the photo, then the frame.  Finish up by adding the flowers, and the simple saying if you want to the bottom. (See picture above)

If you want to to hang it up, add the ribbon to the top right and left corners of the back - as shown below!  

Great project you can do for any person, as a gift, or just for yourself!  I am so happy with the finished result, I can't wait to send it - and make one for myself!

Creative Paperclay Frames by Lynda

I love having my spaces look nice, especially my desk space at work!  If I have to be some place for 8 hours a day, I want things to have a good look and feel!  Today's project - is a great piece to add to my own work space, which will be the beginnings of a few pieces all created to match!  Another thing I love, is having pictures around me - that is why I scrapbook in the first place; with this project - I got the best of both worlds for sure!!!

**TIP**  To make your pieces completely flat, cut a piece a bit larger than what you actually need, and flatten the whole area again.  This way, it is all the same dimension the entire piece after you cut out the shape.  

Supplies to use:
Creative Paperclay product
Flower molds of your choice (Stampin' Up flower molds retiring here)  
Paint - (I used Twinkling H2O's African Jade and Rose Gold and white craft paint)
Alphabet letters (your choice - I used Cricut Ashlyn's Alphabet cartridge)
Die cut vine (your choice - I used Sizzix Vine)

Tools needed for this project:
Die cut shape of frame - (I used Sizzix frame die cut)
Xacto knife
Rolling pin
Sandit's product

Directions:  

Flatten out the clay to the thickness you want for your frame.  Using a template you create, make your frame - making sure to cut the inside out!  

Allow Creative Paperclay frame to dry fully, checking out the pieces as they dry.  Try to flip them over at least every 6-12 hours to dry on both sides.  Using the Sandit's, sand the piece to make it smooth!  

    

Paint the frame white (or any other color you want to work with) at least 2 coats.  Allow to dry between coats for better coverage!   

After you mold the flowers and let them dry, paint them in your choice of paints and colors like the next 2 photos! 

 

After flowers have dried, add the vine, and place the vine from the corner, and the flowers on top!  

Add the title at the bottom using your choice of titles!

I love how this turned out - and will make sure to share the others I am making using this same technique!  I just got a few more photos - so I can create a few more frames for my desk!  I hope you have enjoyed this piece - I love how it turned out, and can't wait to see my family every day!
