So, how do you eat an elephant?  One bite at a time LOL!!!!!  Same thing where Creative Paperclay is concerned - how do you learn, one step at a time!  I do a lot of paper crafts, from mini albums to cards to entire scrapbook albums to bookmarks.....and the cutest embellishments I have made right now - are done with really cute molds!!!  You can purchase them at most of the craft stores, I found really cute ones in a section I normally wouldn't think of - an alphabet one that would be perfect for some of my creations!  If you need any help in how to use molds, I have a video you can watch on YouTube - check it out here:

Fun Layout - With embellishments Made Out Of CreativePaperclay

I absolutely apologize for this late post, I broke 2 of my fingers off my right hand and am in a cute little pink cast right now, so my project this month is just a bit late due to just being able to actually use my hand and type!!!   
One of my tips I share a lot - especially if you paper craft, is to make the embellishments ahead of time, in order to save you time down the line!  Use molds or stamps to create the item, such as a flower, using either Creative Paperclay or Delight product as your base.  Let the piece/pieces dry like normal, and place them aside for use later on!  Then, if you need to paint it, you can customize it to the piece you are working on!  That is how today's project happened!!!
Supplies used

Colorbok papers - Sweet Bloom
Punches - circle, flower
Die cut - flower
Flower mold 
Delight product
Basket stamp
Creative Paperclay
Xacto knife
Hot glue gun
Paper trimmer
Adhesive

The directions will start with how to create the layout...if you need any help in basic molding and stamping, scroll down!!!  

Directions
Step one:
Decide what papers and photos you are going to use, you need 3 sheets total, 1 for the background, and 2 for matting and embellishments.  Using the other two papers, matt the 2 photos you are using.
Step two:
Using the blue side - punch 8 circles for the middle of the flowers, as well as 4 flowers.  Start to add the circles to the flowers - and to the small flowers, add the blue  flowers.  If they go off the edge of the paper, trim the excess.  
Step three:  
Add your molded flowers to the circles.  1 of the flowers will be cut in half for the top flowers (if you are using the same papers I used).  
Step four:
Die cut 3 white flowers, add a blue circle and a flower to each of the 3 flowers. Add it to the basket embellishment in an attractive way...  

Molding
Step one:
Find the mold you want to work with - take a small portion of the product you want to use (Delight or Creative Paperclay) - roll into a ball, then flatten the product to put in the mold.  
Step two: 
Add the flattened product in the mold to create the shape.  Carefully take the shape out of the mold, set aside to dry.

Stamping:
Step one:
Flatten out the product you want to use (I normally will use Creative Paperclay) using a rolling pin type of thing!  
Step two:  
Take your stamp, stamp the image in the product.  Take your Xacto knife, and carefully cut the shape out of the product, set aside and allow to dry!  

This is going in a frame to hang on my wall!  This is my mom, sister, daughter, son and his girlfriend!  Pages are meant to be on walls too, not JUST in books!  I will have a whole wall of photos and pages like this, working on the special photos now!  Great present for just about any reason, or just because!!!  I can't wait to get this on my family wall!!!  For more ideas for scrapbooking, join me at Memories in Tyme blog!!!

Using Creative Paperclay With Your Scrapbook Projects -

I am a card maker first...a scrapbook'er second...and a "crafter" third!!!  What has been more fun for me - is learning different tips for using the Creative Paperclay product - and then altering it for what I do best, or being able to get out of my comfort zone and do bigger projects!!!  I am working on a family album - pictures of my husband and I, 2 of our kids...and some of our extended family on both sides - from a visit to our home state in 2012!  The album will be a vertical paper bag album...the pages are not quite finished... and will be shared on my blog directly when I do have them done.  I love using Creative Paperclay with/as embellishments, making them a one of a kind - and specific to the project at hand!  This project is no different!  

Supply list:
1 package Creative Paperclay (small portion)
Flower & leaf mold
Alphabet template 
Xacto knife
Paint
Die cuts - leaf stem, flowers
Punch - small flower
Hot glue gun
Roller of some sort

                                                               **I am not giving directions on how to cover the album itself, only in molding the flowers and leaf, and making the letters for the title of the album.  If you need directions for the album cover itself, go to my blog (link below), and you will find it listed on the right hand side saying Vertical Paper Bag Albums!  Should you need any other information, or you just can't find it, please send me a message at memoriesintyme@gmail.com!**



Directions: 
Step one:  Start to roll out 1/3 of the Creative Paperclay (less/more if you need to).  When I do mine, I use a rolling pin - you don't need to have the clay really thick, see picture to the right for how thin I roll mine out to.  
  

 Step two:  After you have rolled out the clay, mold some of your favorite shapes.  I used flowers and a leaf - using the Creative Paperclay that is rolled out.  Let dry thoroughly, paint to match your project.  

Step three:  Using an alphabet template and Xacto knife, cut out the letters for the title you are doing, using the Creative Paperclay you rolled out.  Allow to dry thoroughly, paint to match your project. 

**TIP - As you are working with the clay - make sure you have a bit of water and paper towels with you.  After you cut your letters out, you can get the excess taken care of by a bit of water on your fingers to soften up the edges of the cuts before it dries.  Do the same with the flowers and leaves as you take them out of the molds!

Step four:  Looking at the project you are doing - create your background...   Since I am making a Vertical Paper Bag album - this project is for the title - of the album that goes on the front cover of the album, with the flower embellishments.   

Step five:  Start to put your project together...  Starting with the letters spelling out the title of the album, add the first word to your project.  Repeat for any additional words you have.  

Step six:  Add any die cut shapes - such as the leaf vine and flowers to the bottom, overlapping with the top color. When that is done, add the Creative Paperclay flowers and leaf to the die cuts using a hot glue gun.    

Step seven:  Using a small flower punch, punch out different colors of paper - add them sporadically on the bottom of the project and on the letters as well, again by using a hot glue gun.


This has been a really fun project for me to do, for many reasons!  As you can see in the photo to the left, there are hidden photos underneath the paper where the title itself is, where the flowers and stems meet at the bottom!  
I especially have liked reminiscing about being able to spend a short time with family members - on our way to my husband and son going to school!  And, as we spend more time with family, they can be added to the album in the various pockets included in the album!  
If you don't scrapbook - picture a fun wall art piece, with or without photos...  Simply use what you have available to you - along with basic art supplies, and you are sure to make a one of a kind masterpiece!  The best part about this Creative Paperclay stuff - the different things you can do with it!!!  I hope you have as much fun in your creations, as I have this one!

Lynda's Creative PaperClay Tips for July

I absolutely love being a part of this amazing team of women, where in one way or another have taught me a lot where it comes to working with this Creative PaperClay!  I have so many things I am working on right now - some out of Creative PaperClay, some out of paper!  One of my current projects I am working on is a magnet made out of the clay, molds, and a rubber stamp!  I like experimenting with different mediums to see what type of "effect" I can get, while using basic stamping and scrapbooking materials!  I can't wait to start to play with other techniques and products to see what I can come up with! 

Lynda's tips for the month:  

1. Do NOT be afraid to play with the clay to create things with - and don't be afraid to
   
   scrap the project and start over using the same clay too!  I have used it for embellishments on frames, cans, cards, cereal boxes...  Use your imagination and have fun with it!  
2. Make sure to clean your stamps and molds with water and a brush.  You want your creations to be perfect every time you make something!  
3. Make sure to clean your surface before you start to work on the clay - especially if you have pets!   
4. Look at the templates you might have from scrapbooking - to use instead of cookie cutters if you don't have them!  Plus you can always cut out a shape out of paper, using it as your template too!  
5. Dry your creations on a flat surface if you want them to be "flat" on one side.  As the clay is drying - you want to turn it over to allow the air to dry the other side.  

Great product to work with - I am planning out some fun Halloween embellishments - and can't wait to get all my stuff here at my new place and out of storage!  I have some fun stamps I want to use this year with the clay!  Check back here on 8/6 for a fun project I am working on now - and my tips post will be on 8/20 which will be all about tips on making gifts, I hope you will join me!
