Decorating a Photo Frame with Creative Paperclay® Embellishments!

 

I wanted to do something a bit different for my Paperclay project today so I got out a couple of molds and started molding stuff. Whenever I make something with a mold and Paperclay, I usually make several. When they’re all dry I put the ones which I’m not going to use back for use at another time. You can make something quick that way and not have to wait for the clay to dry.

I needed a few butterflies for my project, so I used six of these and stored the rest along with the other things that I molded today, to be used in the future.

   Here’s the frame that I used. I painted it with Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer mixed with Terri Sproul Mixer, Shimmer green.

 Isn’t this color awesome? Plus my frame is now sealed and protected. I then worked on painting the butterflies and when they were dry I glued them unto the front of the frame. I glued a beaded leaf down first though.                                                                        

I thought this was a nice Summertime project and will look good with a Summer picture in it.

DELIGHT PAPER CLAY HANGING WITH TERRI SPROUL MIXERS!

I had a blast with this project! I made a creative plaque for hanging above my door so I can see it every time I leave the house. I used the Delight clay for this project along with 3D Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers.

First, I rolled out a whole package of the Delight clay and made a very organic shape with it. I flattened it out a bit and took stamps and imprinted them directly into the clay (I laid a ruler down as my guide to keep everything straight) and then went to town embellishing it! I made a few butterflies, flowers and leaves from the Delight Clay in molds and then even used the Terri Sproul Mixers with 3D Crystal Lacquer and made even more embellishments!

Once the plaque was dry, I filled the embedded letters with 3D Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul purple mixer and they just turned out beautiful! I added different hues of blues and purples and some glitter and embellishments and coated it all with a quick spray varnish. I am so happy with how this turned out! Thursday fun- Lets have a Party!

Need a really fun idea for a Kids birthday party? How about grabbing those cookie cutters and having some fun with Creative Paperclay! I found this really cool cake set at my local art/craft store, it had a birthday cake and a cupcake cookie cutter. So my idea would be to give each kid a little goodie bag filled with a pre-dried cupcake or cake ornament and in that little goodie bag include some markers, some stickers, maybe a little palette of paint. (all of these can be bought at the dollar store) And have then create their very own birthday memory. Here are some fun cupcakes that i painted.

IMAGINE a funfilled birthday party in a special theme. Or even a sleepover. Really its your imagination that limits you. Art on, ANg

Quick Tip for Creative Paperclay

Love using Creative Paperclay?  Hate waiting for it to dry?  I have a simple way that you can dry your paperclay pieces quickly.




Just heat your oven to 250 degrees,

 and put your pieces on a cookie sheet and viola!








It takes anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes to dry your pieces depending on their thickness.

  Prepping your project before painting. 

When you use molds like this one from Articus Studios™ or cut your paperclay with cookie cutters it is impossible to always have a clean edge. 

The images above and below were cut out with mini cookie cutters you can the rough edges around them. 

Here are a few of my favorite tools I use to clean up the edges.  The tools with the pink handles were made by Basic Grey several years ago.  I love the files, one is round and the others all have a little different shape. You can find files similar to these at the hardware store. One of my favorites to use are emery boards from the dollar store. Last, sand paper for bigger projects. Sand Paper can be torn or cut into smaller more manageable pieces. 

Most of the time I use a emery board, the files are for the hard to get to places.

Once you have cleaned up the edges of your paperclay peices you are ready to paint them.  For a good part of my projects I use Sakura Crystal Lacquer mixed with Terri Sproul Mixers.

Edie's Quick Tip for July

Did you know you can add paint directly to your Creative Paperclay® and Delight® modeling material???  Simply mix in a bit of craft or acrylic paint and blend until no streaks remain. You can also add in mica powders or inks for cool effects!
For these starfish I added some Terri Sproul Mixers - Shimmer Rose to my Creative Paperclay® and worked the clay until the color was well blended. Next I fill an Amazing Mold Putty mold with my Creative Paperclay® and let it dry overnight. I now have some super cute SPARKLY Paperclay starfish to use in an upcoming mermaid painting!
