Halloween Prop Fall Decoration Decapitated Vampire Head by LuLu Lancaster

Hello and Happy Fall! This is LuLu lancaster and I have a spooky cool Project for you.

This is really simple and can be made in a day :)

All you need is a craft store styrofoam head, 

Creative PaperClay®

Acrylic paints~I used brown, black, white and red

 a paint brush and Gesso

some cheesecloth for the base if you like :)

Start with a plain styro head

using acrylic paints that are watered down start shading the head

You want your paint to be nice and wet and stay wet ;)

once you have your shading done 

start guessing the head blending in the acrylic paint. Cover the entire head.

This will also give your clay something to grab ahold of.

Let the gesso dry completely.

Once dry start adding clay to the head. You will be creating hair so add clay in areas hair would be ;)

using your fingers drag the clay down the head to create the loom of hair. You can also use the end of your paintbrush to make "finer" hair.

Create two ear shapes out of clay and attach to the sides of the head.

You can easily do this with you fingers and some water or using the wrong end of your paintbrush.

create gangs with 2 small triangles of clay. 

create an upper lip by rolling a small lip size log. 

Attach with your finger and a little bit of water.

shape the lip by smoothing onto the head and allow to dry.

Once dry paint the hair and create eyebrows if you like :) I added a widows peek.

Once dry you can place on your table with a little cheesecloth loosely fitted around the base :D

Witch's Spellbook with Rachel Whetzel

Hello, out there in Creativeland!! It's Rachel Whetzel, here. It's starting to feel like Fall here in Oregon, and Fall puts me in a spooky mood, so I took some inspiration from the interwebs, and decided to create a Spell Book to add to my Witch's Apothecary Halloween display! 

WHAT YOU'LL NEED to make your own canvas:

• An old phone book
• Creative Paperclay®
• Sandpaper
• Paints. I use Folk Art acrylic craft paints.
• Stain. I used Valspar antiquing stain
• Paint brushes

Get your phonebook sanded up, to help your clay cling to the surface. 

 Because my phonebook had colored pages I didn't want to show, I painted the outside of the pages to make them all look uniform.

 Then, I wet my cover, and started building the "cover" of the book.

 I also carved the words "Book of Spells" onto the cover while the clay was wet, and then painted the cover black once my clay was dry.

 Sand your cover to smooth it out, and create a leathery look to the overall piece. I used gold paint to highlight the title of the book, and wiped off the excess.

 Here's the finished piece, with some of my other Creative Paperclay® pieces from years past.

Carnivorous House Plant Project by LuLu Lancaster

It's the most wonderful time of the year :) Halloween is coming it is raining here and I am ready! Every room of my home will have some little spooky critter or creature lurking. Join me in creating a carnivorous house plant or 3 or 4 :)

Gather your 

small gauge floral wire

masking tape

Creative PaperClay®

miniature clay pots

some cheese cloth

and acrylic paints

Create a T shape with your wire

take a small amount of Clay. enough for the bottom of your pot.

Cover your wire T with masking tape and invert. Poke through the clay.

remove the upside doen T 

this will be your plant head and stems

cover each stem with clay and create a head out of a ball of clay

you can split the head for a mouth :)

create eyes from smaller balls of clay and attach to the wet clay head with a little bit of water.

make leaves for hands by elongating the balls you have attached to the side stems.

using a toothpick you can create teeth, by pulling through the clay.

add nostrils and tiny grooves in the stems to add character :)

Once dry you can use some tacky glue and attach the cheese cloth to the inside of the clay pot.

another dab of tacky glue and attach the plant base to the inside.

Now you can paint your plant to creepy perfection!!!

Boney Coffin using Creative PaperClay® by LuLu Lancaster

Spooky Boney Coffin ;)

I am adding pieces to my Pumpkin patch this year!

I bought a couple craft store coffins and decided to give them  little mixed up boney friend ;)

This project is super easy and with a  little bit of parental supervision even the kids can join in.

You will need:

a craft store 4" wood coffin.

Creative PaperClay®

an xacto knife (parental supervision)

paint brushes 

acrylic paints I used black and white craft paints

water

and tacky glue

floral moss

start by making the bones 

roll a log of clay and cut into lengths 

2 short for arm bones and 2 long for leg bones. 

create an elongated ball for the skull.

using the end of your paint brush create the eyes nostrils and teeth for your skull

create the indentations in the ends of the arm and leg bones. 

create feet and hands by making elongated forms for feet, and pancake forms for the hands. 

Using the xacto knife cut toes and fingers.

You can create a tiny ribcage as well by making small "snakes" of clay and forming them into 2 figure 8s. Place them side by side "squishing" the center with your paintbrush end to secure the 2 pieces.

While your bones are drying paint the inside and outside of your coffin with acrylic paint.

you can glue an extra skull or bone on the lid off your coffin...spooky

after your coffin has dried using tacky glue secure moss inside.

using tacky glue secure your bones in the moss. 

Placing the bones in a mixed up skeleton pose :)

Place any extra bones on the opposite side with a bit of tacky glue.

BOO! 

Now you have a spooky Boney Coffin to add to your pumpkin patch :D

Mini Spooky Spring Maypole Project with Delight ™ Air dry modeling Material

Hello There! This is LuLu Lancaster with a little spooky Spring Mini Maypole :)

I have many of these Vintage Industrial Bobbins. I have them in baskets and have used them for projects but am always looking for another way to use them creatively. You could use any type of hollow length of material for this project, perhaps Bamboo? If a Bobbin is not readily available.

This is very easy to make

First Gather your materials

A Vintage Bobbin or any hollow length of material like a bamboo stick

Ribbons~Approx. 20" lengths

Delight™ air dry Modeling Material

a 3" styrofoam ball

an xacto knife

needle and thread

acrylic paint

paintbrush

silk or paper millinery flowers

clay shaper tool or chopsticks

Tacky Glue

The fist thing you will need to do is make sure your vintage bobbin has a clear opening all the way through ;) 

Next you will sew approx. 8 ~20" lengths of ribbon at the end just a couple stitches will do.

Now that you have stitched the ribbons at one end,

 you will drop the needle into the larger end of the Bobbin.

When the needle comes out the smaller end you will pull tightly (but not too tight you may snap the thread) add a dab of tacky glue to the small end to hold the thread in place.

Taking your Styrofoam ball and your xacto knife carefully cut the ball in half.

You will only be using 1 half so save the other for another project or maypole :)

Insert the small end of the bobbin into the styrofoam. with some water and your clay start covering the foam. This will be your base of your maypole.

Making the tiny skulls

Now you will shape small skulls.

With small thumb size pieces of clay make a rough ball and pinch the bottom half.

using a clay shaper tool or even chopsticks poke eyes in the clay nostrils and teeth if you like.

It takes approx. 24 small skulls to cover the base.

using the tacky glue start applying the skulls to the base.You do not need to wait for the Delight™ material to dry ;)

Once you have the base covered take a little Black watered down acrylic paint and 

paint the eyes nostrils and teeth on your skulls :)

You can add small silk or paper flowers in the spaces if you like also.
