Hello everyone! My name is Cinnamon Willis and I hope that you all had a lovely Thanksgiving! Today's project will show you the basic steps to create a glass bottle ornament!
Supplies:
- Little craft glass bottle with a cork lid
- Creative Paperclay®
- Pin or other small tool for shaping
- Tweezers
- E600 craft glue
- Small screw eye post (optional)
Start out with the bottle and piece of clay that you are going to make your figure with. It's important that you keep the piece small enough to be placed into the mouth of the bottle with tweezers! Begin sculpting the piece. You can make any figure that you choose, just make sure it fits in the bottle and can be glued in place after it dries.
Since the piece is going to be really small, I chose to make indents with a pin, you can use anything that you feel comfortable with.
At this part, I make the legs and other side of the body. I try to start defining the whole shape of the piece here by smoothing out the arms, flattening out the bottom of the legs so that the piece could stand when placed, etc.
After I let the piece dry for overnight or longer if needed, I sanded down the feet so that they were flat and drew a face on the piece.

The next step is to put a drop of E600 glue on the feet and carefully place the piece in the bottle with the tweezers as shown. Hold it in place for about 30 seconds and carefully release the grip of the tweezers to see if the piece stands without it's support. This may take a few tries. Let the glue cure for 24 hours and then you can add more things to the piece as you please!
If you get a small screw eye hook post, you can easily turn these into ornaments by screwing them into the cork top. I put a bit of Spanish moss inside of this one, when you are done decorating, glue the top in place with the E600 glue!
