So here's a few tips I have learnt...
- Grab all of your supplies first...think about what you are making and the supplies you will need to complete it! Don't forget to add a wet cloth of some sort, a dry cloth, as well as a cup of water to use to smooth out your clay
- Create pieces from your moulds and stamps ahead of time, I have a stash of already made pieces, this way it saves time for drying!
- Remember that if you are wanting a finish piece that requires any sort of strength or rigidity, then Creative Paperclay® is your go too... if you want lightweight, a little bit of flexibility (a little bit!) and super quick drying then Delight Modelling Compound is what you need.
- Do a bit of research before starting out on a big project... it can help you to learn little tips and tricks on how to make the pieces more easily or finish them off more professionally... Some of the pieces I have created, might have looked a little better if I had studied ways others have finished their pieces... etc.
- Make the time to create and learn something new...even if you are just starting out. There is so much great info available out there in the cyber world nowadays... This blog has some amazing information for all skill levels... Try to create on a regular basis, as with everything the more we do it the better we become...
- Above all, have fun...and if you do happen to mess something up, then start over, reusing the same product, even if it has dried.... Creative Paperclay® is such an awesome product that you can reconstitute it with water and reuse it again... if it's a large piece, break it up into small pieces and then soak in a small amount of water and slowly work the dry clay back to life.... it's easier than it sounds and is one of the best things about Creative Paperclay® there is never any wastage... unlike some expensive art products that have a shelf life...
Hope you find these tips helpful...
till next time
Happy Creating
