Lyneen's Creative Paperclay® Quick Tip for July!

 My Creative Paperclay®
 Quick Tip of the Month
  Prepping your project before painting.

When you use molds like this one from Articus Studios™ or cut your paperclay with cookie cutters it is impossible to always have a clean edge.

The images above and below were cut out with mini cookie cutters you can the rough edges around them.

Here are a few of my favorite tools I use to clean up the edges.  The tools with the pink handles were made by Basic Grey several years ago.  I love the files, one is round and the others all have a little different shape. You can find files similar to these at the hardware store. One of my favorites to use are emery boards from the dollar store. Last, sand paper for bigger projects. Sand Paper can be torn or cut into smaller more manageable pieces.

Most of the time I use a emery board, the files are for the hard to get to places.

Once you have cleaned up the edges of your paperclay peices you are ready to paint them.  For a good part of my projects I use Sakura Crystal Lacquer mixed with Terri Sproul Mixers.

Creative Paperclay® and Paris!

Sakura Crystal Lacquer
Terri Sproul Mixers
and
Want2Scrap
This week I continued to work on my Want2Scrap Paris Chipboard Album. This week I have added a few pieces I made with Creative Paperclay® and painted with Sakura Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers!

I used my Articus Mold I used to make my Frozen Charlotte.

A small heart cookie cutter.

A mold I made from a dolls head.

I stamped Paris on a piece of Creative Paperclay®

I painted each piece with Sakura Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixer, a little of Gold and Pink Sapphire Shimmer Pearl. The heart was painted with craft paint first, then clear crystal lacquer. The bottle cap has an image covered with crystal lacquer and trimmed with seed beads!

The finished page has a little bit of the Nestabling Silver Rhinstones that surround the picture of Gustave Eiffel himself and covered with a thin coating of Sakura Crystal Lacquer mixed with Terri Sproul Mixers - Gold. The image is from Magic Moonlight Studios Free Images.

A Crown fit for a Princess!

I am so fascinated by Fascinators!!!  Since the Royal Couple are celebrating their first anniversary I thought it would be appropriate to create my own CROWN! This crown would be perfect for a "princess" party! ONLY IN PINK!
I took about a quarter of the Creative Paperclay® from the bag and worked it a little.  Then by hand I spread the clay out on transparencies.  Once it was pretty thin I used the rolling pin and shims to get a smooth surface on the Creative  Paperclay® to work on.  About an 1/8 of an inch. Making sure it is long enough for the pattern.
The crown is pattern I cut measuring 11 inches in length.  Lay it on the Creative Paperclay® with a cutting tool carefully cut around the edge of the pattern.
Randomly stamp the crown with swirls gently to give the crown some decorative dimension. This set of stamps are from Viva Las Vegastamps! Swirl Plate# 1333

With a little water create  slip on the two edges of the crown that need to be joined. Gently work the Paperclay® together at the seam. To help keep the round base I set a cup in the middle of the crown while it dried.  Let it dry overnight, up to 48 hours depending on humididty.

Mix Sakura Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers - Gold then paint the crown set aside to dry about a half an hour then give it a second layer!  While the lacquer is still wet lightly sprinkle with Terri Sprouls Gold Glitz Vintage Glass Particles.  Add a few Robins Nest Dew Drops and a large gem on the highest rise of the crown.
You can see how small the crown is in my hand.  This will be attached to a headband ready for any "princess" to wear!

Rose Fairy

Welcome to my final post for Creative Paperclay® Design Team.  I have had a wonderful year and am sad to see it come to an end.  I will be reapplying but I was unable to reapply this session (my little brother is getting married in August so I am really busy.)  I figured I would finish with a project that is similar to my first submission piece - a fairy.

For this piece we needed to include Sakura Hobby Craft 3D Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers.  I had so much fun creating this I hope you like it!

How to make Fairy Wings Step-by-step.  Terri Sproul has made these several times and I thought it would be prefect for my fairy this time around.

1.  Roll two balls of tin foil.  One large and small.
2.  Attach tin foil together with a wooden skewer.
3.  Cover with Creative Paperclay® Modeling Material .  Add eyes.
4.  Add nose, mouth and ears.
5.  Add hair - try not to smash the face.
6.  What happens when your thumb slips and you destroy the face.
7. Face rebuilt.
8.  Added additional clay to the forehead to make her a little less fugly.
7.  Add to base and paint.

Creative Paperclay® Altoid Shrine!

I love altering things... especially small tins.  Molding with Creative Paperclay® gives endless options when it comes to what ever you want to include in a shrine. If you can't find something your want to include MAKE IT!  Frozen Charlottes are my favorite object to use when altering.  Here I have taken one of the dolls and used it in an ALTOIDS  TIN!
Using Creative Paperclay® I molded Frozen Charlottes in an Articus mold.

Once the she was dry I sanded her down and painted her with Terri Sproul Mixers Citrine & Crystal Lacquer. Attached a small heart made with Creative Paperclay® with the lacquer.
I gathered anything I thought I might like to use... I didn't use half of it. The background papers are from my stash.  The images are from Graphic 45 Olde Curiosity Shoppe
The tag on the front of the the tin has a light coating of lacquer.

The bird is Creative Paperclay™ molded from a paper casting mold I found art my local thrift store.  I painted it with Terri Sproul Mixers Tanzanite Pearl & Crystal Lacquer.

Add a few oddities and you have your own little curiosity shoppe!!

Golden Cameo

The design team from Creative Paperclay® Modeling Material, was lucky to get to choose a mold from Articus Studio Design to play with! They have so many cool molds, I had a hard time making up my mind, but finally decided on the Cameos Flexible Rubber Art Mold.

I used the Delight™ air dry modeling compound, and pushed it into the mold and let it dry before I removed it. I used the new Terri Sproul Mixers/Sakura Crystal Lacquer to color the cameo, with an elegant, Old World feel.

I can see so many possibilities for these molds - jewelry, home decor, any kind of paper craft....

I hope you will check them out and give them a try. You will love how they work with the Creative Paperclay!
