Look
at my beat up molds. They are very well used. When I have a little time
but not enough time to dig into a painting, I cast objects. I have
drawers full of them that are ready when needed. Some are created with
plain Creative Paperclay® and others are tinted or painted.
I decided to make a beach necklace piece of art today.
SUPPLIES
Creative Paperclay®
Panel or canvas
Acrylic paint
Molds & cast objects
Glue
Aquarium sand (hard to get beach sand in Santa Fe)
I
started by applying surface texture to my panel then gluing down cast
and found objects to my surface. I gave it a wash of tan over the white and sprinkled sand on it while wet. I
actually liked it at this point but I wanted a more colorful beach look.
I
applied paint to part of the base and started adding elements for
placement. At this point, I sit back and look at it for several days to
see if I need to change color, soften the look or if it needs more
details.

Going Baroque with Creative Paperclay®
SUPPLIES
Creative Paperclay®
Stamps
Old jewelry
Beads
Stencil
Polymer medium
This piece started by laying out shapes of Paperclay on an old painted, cradled panel. I stamped into the clay then went through my drawers full of objects I had previously cast with left over pieces of Paperclay. After selecting the lucky pieces, I glued them down on the dry butterfly shape. Then I coated everything with polymer medium to seal the clay before painting it.
Then I started the painting process using several shapes of purple, gold and buff colored paints. I dry brushed the gold over the purple to pick up the highlights in the texture.
I
went through my drawers full of small objects, jewelry, keys, and
whatever that I keep in muffin tins. I always search these treasures to
finish off a piece of art.Now I add my small treasures to my art to embellish it. Some I painted just a little and, of course, I added some stencil work.
There is nothing like the pleasure of creating.

Multiple choices with Creative Paperclay®
I decided to try and make a faux handmade paper with Creative Paperclay® and netting. Think of all the things you could do with this. It didn't end there. I cast a couple little men so I would have multiple options.
Here's what I got out of my experiments.
SUPPLIES
Netting
Creative Paperclay® slurry
Silicone mold of man
Gold Metallic acrylic paint
Soft gel gloss
Gold glitter
Ribbon
Small bag
I laid the netting on wax paper then applied the Creative Paperclay® slurry on top.
I laid another sheet of wax paper on top and brayered the slurry flat. I left the wax paper on until the slurry was almost dry.
Next I applied slurry into a silicone mold and left the slurry to dry in the mold.
Next, I painted both gold. There can never be enough gold and bling.
I applied soft gel gloss through a stencil then removed the stencil and added coarse glitter for a rich tapestry look.
Glue the cast man and a ribbon and you have a great gift tag, gift card or ???
Or make a pocket shrine for your man, maybe a Chinese fortune cookie fortune, herbs, etc. Then tuck it in your purse. Or gift to a girlfriend that is looking for a boyfriend or husband for luck!
