Sandee's bibliophile magnet

While collecting refrigerator magnets from tourist locales use to be a souvenir enthusiast's hobby of mine; I have turned it into making my own art magnets. Sometimes they are motivational and sometimes they are just for fun. Either way I love having a little fridge art of my own.

I used Creative Paperclay to create a bibliophile magnet; for next to art, reading is a favorite past time for me...and owls, oh I do love owls.

I used ColourArte's Primary Elements mixed together with a gel medium to color the Creative Paperclay leaves. After the first coat which then sealed the Paperclay it was very easy to add layer upon layer of wet color to get the depth I wanted.

The owl was heat embossed which worked fantastically and was also another method of adding color and sealing the Paperclay at the same time.

All the steps to making my magnet are in the slide show...you might be surprised to see what the owl is mounted on.

Hooliday Gift Tags

Hello, it's Ann here today with an early Holiday Season How to for you.  I hope you like my Hooting Owl Tags!

So these tags are made from Creative Paperclay®.   First you roll out some of the Creative Paperclay® on a non stick surface.

Then using a template that you can make or already have, trace and cut the clay.

Let each clay tag dry thoroughly.

Using any stamp and some ink, stamp on the desired image and saying.  Let dry.

Colour the image with colouring pencils.  If you would like you can use some dimensional paint for the pom pom and fluffy brim of the hat.

To make these tags hangable just make holes at the top with a regular paper hole punch.

Cover the tag with clear glitter, and add chunky gold glitter to the edges.

Now you have some really cute tags to use on gifts and that can be used as ornaments.

Hooting Owls

Who ever wanted to have a whole bunch of cute, light weight and inexpensive embellishments to add to their creative projects?  It seems that I can't get enough of having and now making some cute embellishments for my various projects.  My latest interest has been in making small size embellishments to add to the contents of pockets in my pocket letter exchanges with some new friends.

Hi, it's me Ann, from the blog AnnMakes and the Design Team here at Creative Paperclay®.  If you are curious as to what I am talking about please jump over to my blog afterwards where I explain what I am doing.  But for now stick around and see how fun and easy it is to make your very own art supplies with the help of Creative Paperclay®.

All you need are moulds and some air drying Creative Paperclay®!  To make similar decorative paperclips you will also need some paperclips and a really strong adhesive.

First get a mould, sprinkle a very small amount of talcum powder (optional) add the clay, let it set a few minutes.  Pop out of the mould and let it dry.

When the object of your choice is dry, smooth any rough edges (I use Sandits) and then paint or decorate any way you please.  For this little owl I wanted him to shine.  I just used some gold coloured nail polish.

After the owl was dry I glued it to a paperclip and let that dry and cure 24 hours.
