Tip to create thin pieces of Creative PaperClay® by LuLu Lancaster

Hello there! this is LuLu Lancaster and I have a tiny Tip to share with you. Something I recently discovered as I needed a piece of thin clay to use as a sheet of paper.

I use a pasta machine to condition my polymer clay. I tried to use it with my Creative PaperClay® and ended up in a sticky mess, not only the clay was a mess but so was my pasta machine.

I decided to use wax paper and the clay mostly stuck to the wax. I went into the kitchen and grabbed my parchment paper. Success! 

Between 2 sheets of parchment paper I placed some clay. I then squished it flat with my hands, you could use a roller ;) to the point it would fit in the largest setting on my machine. I found I had to take the clay out of the paper on the 4-5th pass and use a new piece of parchment as the paper started to get damp and the clay would stick. After passing though each setting and 2 changes of paper I had a thin sheet of clay. Perfect. And my pasta machine was still clean ;)

Using fabric to create texture to your Creative Paperclay® project by Gloriann Irizarry

It is Gloriann Irizarry with May,s Creative Paperclay® Tips and Tricks.

A warm hug to  Today I wanted to share one of my favorite ways to texture my Creative Paperclay

I like this technique because of  finished product. It looks very organic and has a natural feel to it.

Since there is so many types of fabrics out there the possibilities are endless

 Here I will show you how.

 Choose you favorite lace from the collection to be use for pattern transfer technique. 

So many and so pretty/.

 Here is how I use this technique:

Choose your favorite fabric.

Roll your clay out and place the fabric of your choice on top.

Carefully remove the fabric after rolled to reveal the beautiful pattern not transferred to your clay sheet.

I use a nice border cutter to give a even more fabric finish. 

Layer now your paint to give a nice effect to your Creative Paperclay® 

 Now it is time to practice and use has many textures you want. Using Creative Paperclay®  is so much fun and easy to do so keep experimenting and having fun while creating.

Carole's Top Five Tips for Using Creative Paperclay®

Creating with Creative Paperclay® modeling material and Delight™ air dry modeling compound is fun and easy!! Here is a quick list of my top five tips for using these great products.

1. Have slip handy and use it. Here a great blog post all about slip.
2. Allow plenty of time for your projects to dry thoroughly—usually overnight, but it could be longer, depending on the thickness of your clay.
3. You can speed up the drying time by heating your clay pieces in a 250° oven.
4. Cornstarch is great for preventing the clay from sticking to work surfaces and molds.
5. USE IT!! Play with it. Try something untried. You can't break the clay (while you're working with it, anyway ☺). If it's not what your want, just gather it into a ball and begin again.

Lynda's May Tips

First - I apologize for this post being late, I have been on the mend after I had to have a knee replacement surgery!  I am glad it's over...but not looking forward to the therapy and things associated to it all if you understand my meaning!!!  
I have really enjoyed working with Creative PaperClay products - especially when I am working on an album!  I especially love creating vertical paper bag albums now, and have about 3 more that I am planning on making - one is titled "Our Family" including pictures of both sides of our families!  I can't wait to get this one started - I have the paper ready to go, which is always the start for me, and the title will be made out of scrapbook templates and Creative PaperClay! 
I have a few tips for using the clay that might help you along the way, especially if you are just starting out:

• If something doesn't look quite right to you, start it over again...reuse the same clay, adding a bit of water to it if you need to!  
• On the same hand, let water be one of your best friends when using this clay, to help some of the imperfections in your creation!  
• If you have molds you are starting to use - mold a few extra of things when you are creating something...  It makes it easier if you are pressed for time, and it is something you use a lot of, such as a flower!  
• Don't be afraid of the clay and creating with it!  It really is a lot of fun to use!

Spring Bugs, Create your own specimens by LuLu Lancaster

Hello There LuLu here again with some creepy crawlers :) Happy Spring and with Springtime I always think about Bugs. Usually the kind invading my home, but these are fun little colorful freeform Bugs ;)

All you need is 

Creative PaperClay®

needle and thread

Acrylic paints

I used brown red and gold

An Acrylic gloss

Start with multiple clay balls any size

squish a few of them together and elongate to make a bug like shape

You can make any type of bug shape I have a few caterpillar types ;)

take your needle and thread and run lengthwise of the body.

Leaving threads hanging on both ends. Creates the illusions of bug "parts"

Now run your thread across the body to create insect arms and legs

Let your new creatures dry in the sun :)

Paint fun colors with spots and stripes. You can even add "wings" from plastic with a drop of glue.

After they have dried add some acrylic gloss to shine them up :)

And that is how you make "bugs" with Creative PaperClay®

How to create a Creative Paperclay® 2 parts art doll hands by Gloriann Irizarry

Hola Amigos is Gloriann Irizarry with April's happy crafting tip.

This time I will show you how to create a seamless removable arm.
Having removable arm makes the Molding process and casting the final piece a lot easier.

Materials

Recycle a grocery bag

Scissors

Your Creative Paperclay® Art doll

Sculpting hands single hands are a lot easier than sculpting them attached to the figure .

Specially if you are going to make a mold. Been able to have a seamless removable arts will make the mold making process so much easier. 

To do a seamless removable arm  by cutting a small square out of the grocery bag.

Make sure the square size fit and cover the whole arm or body portion you want to be able to separate. 

Add a light coat of water with a paint brush to adhere the grocery bag to the piece.

Now dry fit the arm and using a paint brush add some clay around the area to create a seamless arm.

Make sure the arm is place on the position you want the final arm to look.

Repeat the process on the next arm

Let the piece dry overnight.

Once dry you can gently removed the arm and take the plastic out.

Take the entire plastic out. It will peel nicely to reveal a 2 part sculpt

All you need to do is sand  the arm and you will have a 2 part sculpt that can be easy put apart for you to mold it easier.  

I use this technique a lot with my Ball Joint Dolls (BJD) it helps to make molds for porcelain or ceramics out of my Creative Paperclay® sculpts masters.
