A Santa Ornament

Hello, welcome to another blog post! Today I am doing a recap of my Facebook Live show, Clay Talk, that aired on December 5th. In this episode, I did a live demonstration showing you how to make this adorable Santa ornament.

It is quite an easy project for any level of sculptor and you do not need a lot to get started. You will need Creative Paperclay® which is very affordable as well as some craft paints. I recommend Plaid Craft Paints and Mod Podge Sparkle as a varnish. A full supply list is below:

• foil
• something to add weight to the base of the sculpture (I used cat litter)

Snowball Ornament

Hello, Ann here from the Creative Paperclay® Design Team and the blog: Annmakes.  Today I have a fun altered project for you.  Here it is:

To make this glittery snowball tree ornament I actually rescued a broken tacky christmas decoration from last year.  By itself the gold plastic ball looks, well, blah.  It was part of a very nicely decorated gift wrapping, once upon a time.  Now, it was going into the bin or I was going to save it and transform it into a usable ornament for a Christmas Tree.

So, I started with this gold plastic ball.  I covered it with Delight™ and purposely left the bumps so it would look more like a real icy snowball.  The kind you make on a wet snowy day.  Yes, here in Canada we have names for the several varieties of snow we get.  LOL.

I also made a new hook by inserting half of a paperclip into the top part and secured that with a dab of glue.

Once the Delight was dry I covered the top part of the snowball with some shiny sealer that already has a golden glitter incorporated into it.

Once the sealer dried I glued on some acrylic snowflake table scatter, a piece of gold ric-rack and a bow.

Finally, I strung a piece of ribbon through the hook to hang the snowball from the tree's branch.

I hope that you are inspired to make some ornaments or other winter decorations of your own.

Alice Inspired Pin Cushion for Mom

 Good Morning!

If you have a Mom who likes to sew then this cute teacup pin cushion gift will be a real winner!

It doesn't matter how old you are, mom will always cherish something handmade by you. She still has a shoebox full of magnificent drawings you created in elementary school .... am I right?

Here is what you will need

Creative Paperclay®
Sandpaper
Sandits®
Styrofoam ball
Poly fiberfill
Fabric
Plastic flowerpot
Baking spray
Sewing pins
Needle and thread
Americana Muti-surface paint®
Mod Podge®
 E6000 glue

Let's get started

Making the cup
1. Lightly spray a plastic flower pot with baking spray so that your paperclay will not stick.
2. Roll out a sheet of paperclay and drape over the flower pot.
3. Trim off excess.
4. Smooth out paperclay using water on your fingertips
5. Cut a strip of paperclay and roll it to form a solid tube. (This will be for your handle)
6. When dry smooth out the cup more (if needed) using a fine grit sandpaper. The handle had a lot of  curves. I found it was easier to finish using Sandits®.
7. Paint your pieces and decorate to your liking.
8. Attach the handle to the cup using E6000 glue.
9. Mod Podge the entire piece to seal.

Making the pin cushion 
1.Cut a square piece of fabric large enough to wrap around your ball.
2.Wrap some fiberfill around the styrofoam ball.
3.Wrap your fabric around the ball to hold the fiberfill on pinning in place.
4. Take a needle and thread and stitch together at the bottom of the ball gathering excess as you go.
5. Remove the pins.
6. Glue the finished fabric covered ball into the cup using E6000 glue.

Brenda's Snowflakes

Good morning, Brenda here and welcome to another Creative Paperclay® project.  I wanted to show you another project I made with all those embossed snowflakes and some others.  Remember, you can emboss your paperclay while it's still wet and using a cuddlebug folder or anything with texture just adds element to your project.  I love doing this.  Click on the link above if you don't remember the post or want to see it for the first time.  So let's get started:

After my snowflakes and other cookie cutter cut outs were completely dry, I painted them with acrylic paints and inked around the edges to give them dimension.  I do that allot. 

See how using different embossing folders gives them different looks.  I love this technique. 

So I wanted to turn them into memo holders... 

So I used Mod Podge and added some papers to the front of the clothespins.  Adding a bit of glitter here and there to make them sparkle and another layer of Mod Podge to seal them well. 

Aren't these cute? 

Now I wanted to turn them into refrigerator magnets...so off to my "hoarding" bin and there I found some old 2012 calendar magnets.  Yes, I keep "EVERYTHING" 

I cut them into strips that are the same width as the clothespins and glued them to the backside of them. 

Now they can hang on your file cabinet (like mine) or the 

refrigerator (like my mom did) to keep notes or cards or whatever your heart desires. 

These turned out so cute.  I wanted to make them for my mom, my dad's girlfriend and MIL 

but also wanted to package them up cutely...SO 

I used bakers paper to cut the bags from my TBBM cricut cartridge 

scored them. 

glued them. 

folded them. 

the bottom is also glued, but somewhat fragile if you were to put anything heavy into it, so... 

I just cut a piece of cardboard to fit the bottom of the bag and used an adhesive runner  

placed it into the bottom of the bag

my hand didn't fit, so I used my scissor to make sure it fit snuggly and... 

here they are packaged for gift giving.  I cut some tags using up most of my Christmas paper scraps, punched holes at the top and used some ribbon to close them up.  I gave them to my mom, my dad's girlfriend and MIL and they loved them.
