Getting Ready For Halloween - Creative Paperclay Style

Last year at Halloween time, my husband and I created this scene together!!!  I really liked the time we spent together creating it!!!  This year - we are adding to it - using what was left over from the stuff Creative Paperclay and Gina's Designs sent me last year, and a bit of ummmm "extra's" shall we say!!!  I will be using a combination of the chip board pieces I got last year, and the Creative Paperclay and Delight products I just got - in order to create more things to go with last years scene!!!

**Tip's**
  • Look at things you would normally throw away, and use them as bases for other things!  Things like a fruit cup turned in to a cauldron - paper towel holder into a tree - chip board into a haunted house...you get the idea!!!
  • Make a plan ahead of time - don't wait until the last minute to get things done!  If you plan more of the details, you know what all you will need to do to get the project done without problems!
  • Get the whole family involved - don't do this whole thing yourself!  Simply have fun creating and spending time as a family no matter what you end up creating!
No matter what project you start to work on - enjoy your time creating what you do, and spending time with your family!  I can't wait to see what we end up creating - out of everyday things we would normally throw away!!!  I also can't wait to spend the time creating more things for our scene - together!!!
Until next time,

Lynda's Beginner Tips -

I have been a part of this team for a number of years now - I am on my 3rd year, working towards my 4th!  I have used both Creative Paperclay and Delight products in various ways over the past few years, but mostly - with my paper craft supplies!  With the current team we have - the skill level is all across the board for sure, sure to find something you can create!!!
My latest project - is simply my favorite one so far (picture above - link here), something I have hanging on the wall of my fridge to keep notes, phone numbers and shopping lists on!  It even has a space in the corner to keep the recipe I might be working on, so it stays out of the way and I can read it!!!  I am making other magnets to go with this - that way I can change them as I want to!!!

Out of it all - I have learned a lot of things in creating with these products:
  • Creative Paperclay is more heavier than Delight - and can be baked, where the Delight shouldn't be, it takes way less time to dry!
  • If you have any molds, mold some of the product up front - to save time when you really need them the most!
  • When you are creating larger projects - learn to let water be your best of friend with the Creative Paperclay product!  It will help to smooth little imperfections, and blend pieces together if you need it to!
  • If you paper craft - you can use a lot of products you already have, with one simple package of Creative Paperclay!  I use stencils, rubber stamps and basic supplies to create one of a kind things!
  • Do things in shifts - don't expect to create this masterpiece in a short time, when you need time to create it in the first place!
  • Make a list of what you want to work on - and keep it all in one place.  Things like sketches - a supply list to purchase - a photo for inspiration - a Pinterest pin, everything listed in one place!
I can't wait to show you the fun things I have planned for the next few months - Halloween and Christmas related!!!
Until next time,

Lynda's Recycled Cardboard Insert

I am all for recycled projects, this month's project, made from a packaging insert I got from a scrapbooking find!!!  I wanted something I could hang on my fridge in my kitchen, to hold "to do lists" and recipe's on!!!  I am making my space around me look nice, so these little things - will all tie together in the bigger picture soon!!!  We are starting in the kitchen and moving on from there!!!

Supplies used:
Creative Paperclay product flattened
Filler product
Piece of chipboard
Magnet stripes
Paint (Sage green)
Binder clip
Flowers (paper, die cut and molded flowers)
Ink pad (Stampin' Up - Pistachio Pudding)
Bakers twine (Stampin' Up - white)
Hot glue

Directions:
Step oneFlatten out the brick of Creative Paperclay product - see video below if you need any help there!

Step two:  Cover the front part of the chipboard shape, wrapping a small bit around to the back side.  Add a smaller piece to the back - using your fingers to blend the two pieces together.  Using your finger and water, make the Creative Paperclay smooth, especially watching the edges.

Step three: Allow the piece to dry - making sure to turn the piece over and over again to allow for both sides to dry flat and dry consistently.  You could also try to put this in the oven for quicker dry time if you need to.  Make sure to allow a few days for this step if you don't dry it in the oven.

Step four:  Once thoroughly dried, make sure to inspect for any imperfections.  Once this had started to dry - I found a crack in it that needed to be fixed, I used some filler product we received as a design team to fix it!  Since I can't read the language on the bottle, I have no idea what it is, just that it has an awesome yellow lid and it is really great to fill in holes and cracks!

Step five:  After everything dries - sand it on the front, back and sides, to make sure it is ready to go.  Once it is - you want to get it ready to paint the piece.

Step six:  Put 2 coats of paint (at least) to the front and back of the piece, allowing to dry completely between coats.

Step seven:  Start to add white bakers twine around the bottom of the piece, and the various flowers you have selected at the top and 1 on the bottom.  With the middle flowers, I added a bit of the Pistachio Pudding ink pad to the front of the flowers to add a bit of color to it!

Step eight:  Add the 2 binder clips - one larger one at the top to add notepaper to, and the small bottom one to keep a recipe when you are cooking!

Step nine:  Finish by adding the magnet strip's to the back of the piece!  From this picture, I added a small piece to each corner - and one more larger piece to help hold it up on the fridge!

I can't wait to get the rest of the kitchen done - though this is the first of a few things I am creating!  I will have to purchase more paint, so I can coordinate the whole look!  This one space, will help the next space, and the next one, and the next one!

Lynda's Beginner Techniques

I have a lot of stamps.....  I especially love a stamp that can be used in different ways, such as this stamp!  Today's post is all about using stamps with the Creative Paperclay product - so grab your favorite stamps, flattened product - and get started with this video!!!

There are a lot of different things you can create - using this technique, and just in time for Mothers Day and Fathers Day!!!  I have a few idea's sketched out, and will have another video in a couple of weeks using this technique!

**Tip - make sure to clean your space before you start to use the product!  I keep a wet wash cloth and a dry wash cloth to clean up before I lay the product down, and after I am done using the product!**

Altered Organizer Box With Creative Paperclay Accents

I am a completely organized/disorganized mess!  Right now it is what it is - and I look forward to a bit more in the future, where I will be able to spread out and have my own space to create in!  In between time, I am going to have some fun in getting READY for that day, and today's project...well, lets just say it will really look great in my imagined space I am planning for!

Supply list:
Creative Paperclay and Delight products
Box
3 cans
Paper
Border tape
Mod Podge
Glue gun
2 sheets paper
White paint

This is the type of project that needed a video, instead of directions on how to create it!  I am really happy with how it turned out, and can't wait to see what I end up making next using the same "recycled" products!  I have a few things I am working on, including a bulletin board with decorated push pins made out of Creative Paperclay, and a few gift items for special ladies for Mothers Day coming up

For the title - check out the video on my Memories in Tyme blog that will show you how to use scrapbook templates and the Creative Paperclay productAs for the inside - you can see how I have everything from scissors to my trimmer to paint brushes...all inside this box!  I might even have to make a few others to match this one!

So many things I am working on - and now a really nice thing to put my creative supplies in!  I am starting to create again, so having a nice place to put my supplies in - is perfect for me!  I hope you have enjoyed this project, and I hope you share with me YOURS!

Fun Valentines Day Altered Can Project

When you give gifts out to your friends and family - are they works of art, or are they just shoved in a bag?  I love to reuse things - like coffee cans, to create one of a kind creations to put presents in - normally I am a shove things in a sack and here you go kinda gal!!!  Today's project - how to create your own one of a kind gift container, which can be tweaked for just about any kind of holiday!  Let's get started!

Supply list:
Can - your choice of size... I use an MJB coffee can (empty of course)
Paper of your choice
Delight product
Heart cookie cutters
Glitter glue
Heart punch
Ribbon
Border punch
Die cuts

Directions:
Step one: Using the Delight product, flatten an entire package out to your desired thickness.  If you are reusing the Delight product after you have cut shapes out - simply roll in a ball - and flatten back out!

Step two:  Start to cut out hearts with your heart cookie cutter.  Repeat step one using the leftovers.  Set aside to allow to dry.

Step three:  Take your can and start to cover the outside in an attractive manner.  Measure the outside of your can and add about 1-2" extra paper to allow for you to glue the whole thing down.

Step four:  Start to add the extra's that will make the can unique, such as a border using the border punch, die cuts or embellishment's that go with the theme you are working on.

Step five:  After the Delight hearts are finished drying, decorate them with punches and glitter glue.  When glue is completely dry, add to the can.  With  the pink can, I added a bow, with 2 hearts on the top of the ends of the ribbon.  With the red can, I added a black heart on each of the Delight hearts, with 1 heart accented in the glitter glue.

With these can's - you can customize to just about any gift giving event you have, or plain (in a favorite color) for "just because"!!!  Each of the cans are different, with tags created (directions on Memories in Tyme blog) to match each one!  They are a bit bigger - I wanted something they could frame if they wanted to!

**Tip - watch for cookie cutters at Walmart for .98 cents for about 5 individual cutters!  Or - grab a coupon and go to your local craft store and get them!  You can even check out the thrift stores too!  I spent almost $5.00 at Michael's for 4 cookie cutters, went to Walmart later on - and found them for .98 cents!

Cookie cutters, added with Delight or Creative Paperclay - can create so many different things!!!  Accents for your scrapbook albums or cards...magnets...or embellishments for altered items!  One package will go a long long way - unless you are making a larger item!!!  Delight product will dry quickly - and can be put in the microwave to create a more 3D look.  Creative Paperclay will dry hard and non-breakable, ready for acrylic paint!!!  So, depending on what you are looking to do - either product will help you get started in creating really fun one of a kind items!  I have a video coming up - tips on using molds to create embellishments and other fun things - I hope you will join me in 2 weeks!

Lynda's Monthly Tips

Hello there!  I have loved bringing you beginner projects for you to start out with, especially scrapbook embellishments for you to use with your paper craft projects!  After checking out my own personal calendar for the next few months - I have decided I best get things done early!  In order to get things done, here are a few tips to help you:

  • Mold things that you like to use on your projects ahead of time!  That way, it saves you time from having to let the piece dry!
  • Have a container to put all of your supplies in!  That way, you can pull out one thing, and have everything in it you will need!
  • Also have a container you can take with you if you are going to be waiting for an appointment!  The Delight product won't make your hands TOO yucky, but keep a small container of baby wipes/hand wipes with you!
  • Learn to look at your calendar for the upcoming months, (once a month challenge on my blog, link below).  That way, you can get things done earlier - and work the bugs out if you have any!
  • Check out some of the fun ideas on Pinterest or this blog!  Tweak them for what YOU want to make!
I never realized all the fun things I could do with Creative Paperclay and Delight products!  I am so glad to be on this amazing team of people!  So, join me each month at Memories in Tyme, where you will get that challenge once a month to look at your calendar I talked about!  The best thing about that - you don't have to scrapbook to join THAT challenge!  See you in a few weeks with a few fun ideas, and at my other blog!!

Lynda's July Post

The projects I have been making lately are wonderful for beginners to start out with, especially if you have basic supplies to create with!  Some of my favorites right now are mold's, being able to mold out fun flowers and things ahead of time, creating when you have the time!  However, this project - though you can use mold's for embellishments, I chose to make my own!!!

If you craft with paper - and have pets, you will have to create yourself one, using your pets paw prints!  I have 3 cats, and found this darling idea on Pinterest to capture each of their paw prints - and I am using the Delight product for it!  So, grab some fun paper, a box, something to cut the circle out with for each paw, bakery twine or ribbon, and Delight product - and lets get to work!!!

Supplies used:
2 sheets of cardstock
Box
Hot glue gun
Delight product
Rolling Pin
Round object
Ribbon/twine
Small hole punch (I used Silent Setter)
 Directions:
Step one:  Roll the Delight product out, have cat/dog walk over the product.

Step two:  Take round object and cut out one or two of the paw prints.

Step three:  Take another round object (I used my Silent Setter) to create the hole at the top to thread through your twine/ribbon, etc.
Step four:  Cover your box using your favorite papers.  Since my box is going in the kitchen - I used kitchen papers!  I can always change the embellishments as I want to!

Step five:  Add the ribbon to the top of the box, and the paw print charms to the front of the box!
Step six:  Add the cat treats (or dog treats) to the box -

This was such a fun project - using the paw prints of the 3 most precious cats - at least to me they are!  I hope you have enjoyed this easy project - you can do this with a baby's prints - or any paw print from animals!  I really hope you enjoy creating your own, and share them with me!!!
